Spring is upon us, which means summer is just around the corner. This spring/summer, try to find time to save yourself some money (in the long run) and take time out to do a little home maintenance. Here's a quick list we've compiled from some of the top do it yourself sites like HGTV, DIY, and other awesome handyman blogs.
- Service your lawn mower, you're about to use it... A lot!
- Fertilizing the lawn is good to do around this time as well.
- We hire a home inspector every five years. Maybe overkill, however, it's cheaper than a regular home inspection.
- Wash the windows inside and out. One side of our windows comes out allowing an easier path to the outside window.
- Clean out the gutters and the downspouts.
- Brush out the dryer vent. We found a tool (about $30) at Lowe's that will attach to a drill. And, when attached to a shop vac, will loosen anything in the line to be vacuumed up.
- Test/Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and (and CO Detectors).
- Clean and repair your screens.
- Clear/Clean the range hood and filter, in addition to the fans in the bathroom.
- Check the AC unit or Dust off and reinstall the window AC unit.
- Look in the attic and beneath the sinks for Mold (and anywhere else you might have moisture).
